Planning Engineer 

Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Employment Type: Full-Time

Experience: 7–10 Years (Minimum 4–5 years in UAE/Abu Dhabi preferred)

 

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Planning Engineer with 7–10 years of construction experience to manage project scheduling, progress monitoring, and reporting for construction projects in Abu Dhabi. The candidate will coordinate with project teams, contractors, and consultants to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to approved scope and standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain Master Schedules and detailed construction schedules using Primavera P6 / MS Project

  • Prepare look-ahead schedules, resource-loaded schedules, and critical path analysis

  • Monitor progress against planned schedules and update accordingly

  • Assist in short-term and long-term planning of manpower, equipment, and material

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track project progress and generate weekly, monthly, and milestone reports

  • Identify schedule delays, risks, and propose mitigation or recovery actions

  • Support management in project forecasting, float analysis, and schedule optimization

Coordination & Meetings

  • Coordinate with Project Manager, Construction Manager, QS, and QA/QC teams

  • Attend project progress meetings and present planning updates and recovery plans

  • Interface with subcontractors and consultants for schedule alignment

Resource & Productivity Analysis

  • Monitor productivity rates and resource utilization

  • Prepare resource histograms, S-curves, and manpower reports

  • Support cost control and project cash flow planning with QS/Commercial teams

Risk & Change Management

  • Identify potential schedule risks and implement risk mitigation plans

  • Update schedules to reflect approved variations and change orders

  • Support management in evaluating impact of delays on project timelines

Documentation & Handover

  • Maintain project planning records and document revisions

  • Support handover by providing as-built schedules and lessons learned

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline

Experience

  • 7–10 years of planning/scheduling experience in construction projects

  • Strong experience in Abu Dhabi/UAE projects preferred

  • Exposure to residential, commercial, high-rise, or mixed-use projects

Technical Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6, MS Project, AutoCAD, and MS Office

  • Understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and project management principles

  • Ability to perform critical path method (CPM) analysis, S-curve reporting, and delay analysis

Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent coordination and communication skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Detail-oriented with proactive planning mindset

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Experience working with main contractors, PMC, or consultants in Abu Dhabi

  • Familiarity with Abu Dhabi authority approvals and construction regulations

  • Knowledge of progress measurement techniques (Earned Value Management)
